Location

With a thriving market culture, south-west France is a gastronomic delight and this area is no exception. 

There are rivers and lakes where you can swim, fish and canoe, golf courses, tennis courts and riding stables - all available locally. And with hundreds of chateaux and vineyards to explore, there is of course, the delightful opportunity to sample the great wines of this area.

Summer months offer a huge amount of fetes in the local area as well as night markets, brocantes and vide greniers.

St Astier de Duras is a small, quiet hamlet wih a church and Mairie.  The nearest boulangerie is in Villeneuve de Duras - 5 mins away.

The location is within easy reach of Bergerac, St.Emilion and Bordeaux, with the Dordogne, Lot-et-Garonne valleys nearby.

Duras is the nearest small town (9km) - a beautiful bastide with a chateau, banks, supermarkets, cafés and restaurants.

The coast at Arcachon which has the famous Dune de Pyla is approx 2 hours drive away.

Bergerac (30 mins away) has a go-kart track and a small Aqua Park

Golf - the internationally famous Chateau de Vigiers Golf and Country Club is approx a 20 mins drive away.  There is a municipal golf course at Marmande (30 mins) and a couple of 9 hole couses nearby.

There are excellent restaurants in the surrounding area - further details can be given if reauired.

The beautiful city of Bordeaux is 1.5 hours away and makes a fantastic day out for shopping or culture or both!

Issigeac is a charming medieval village (40 mins) - Sunday market is a must!

St. Emilion (40 mins) - well worth a visit and lunch
